Hanahan Baseball Wins Lower State Title

Hanahan's baseball team won the Lower State Championship on Friday after two gruelling games with Berkeley County rivals Bishop England.

The Hawks came into the championship game Friday as the underdog — required to win both games in a double-header to secure the title.

Both teams fought hard through the first game, going scoreless through eight innings before a single run in the ninth kept hope alive for the Hawks.

Both teams found more traction in game two, but the Hawks pulled out a second win, 3-1.

Hanahan will host Gilbert on Monday in the game one of the state championships.

A short drive across the river, Hanahan's softball team was hosting Dillon in the Lower State title game. But they fell in both games of the double header, finishing second in the Lower State.
