Cribb is hopeful that the City Council will select a new chief on Thursday night, but he said they may need more time or the council may want to narrow the list further. "This is the first look at several of these candidates for the council," he said.

The starting salary is expected to be roughly $55,000. The city wants someone with at least 10 years of experience, including time in a leadership position. The chief will oversee 34 officers with a $3 million budget.
