Mayor Hears From Brickhope Residents

Heitzler says boulevard extension important, will encourage safe speed.

Mayor Michael Heitzler came out to Brickhope Plantation on Monday to talk with residents about concerns over the planned extension of Henry Brown Jr. Boulevard.

Road plans include bringing the road up to Montague Plantation, diverting truck and commuter traffic currently using Red Bank Road, Liberty Hall Road and U.S. 52. That would send the traffic through the growing Brickhope community.

, pointing to safety concerns for children playing on the playground or in backyards that run along the road.

News 2's Raymond Owens was on the scene as the mayor spoke with community members about the road plans.

"I will support you by having the laws strictly enforced," Heitzler told the group. "I will also support you to see if we can't get the speed limit lower than they normally put on a road like this."
