Horse Sexually Assaulted at Weapons Station Stables

Local police departments coordinating response.

Goose Creek Police Department is investigating the sexual assault of a horse at Marrington Stables at Joint Base Charleston — Weapons Station.

The horse's owner called officers to the site Wednesday morning to report finding a stool out of place in the stall and evidence on the horse indicating an assault. Investigators took DNA samples and began a preliminary investigation.

On Thursday, the owner called police again to report what was believed to be fresh signs of a second assault. It was unclear to investigators whether this was, in fact, a separate incident.
