Hostage Taken at Detention Center, Says Law Enforcement

A Berkeley County detention center suspect is accused of putting a female sergeant in a choke hold, according to several media reports.

Ronald Reid was being held at the Hill-Finklea Detention Center on traffic offenses Sept. 12. After his leg irons were removed to allow him to change into jail clothes, deputies say he grabbed the sergeant.

Detention Center staff were eventually able to pull Reid off of the officer. He was charged with taking a hostage. WCSC, Live 5 News, has more info on the incident.
