Life is like a train ride and at this particular moment, you might not be enjoying the “stop” where you are. You may feel like you should have been further along at this point and your heart is full of disappointment because this isn’t the way you planned your “trip.” The trick to being content in any circumstance or at any “stop” is to remember that God has a reason for you being there. It may be because someone in your world needs to hear a word of encouragement or wisdom that only you can give them; or you might need to learn something that will become important further down the road. You just don’t know what might have happened if you had gone on to the “stop” where you thought you should be. God may have re-routed you to keep you safe and avoid a disaster that you couldn’t see. When your heart becomes anxious, tell yourself: at this time, you are exactly where you need to be. Rest. Don’t fight so hard against it. That will only make you feel worse. Remember: God is the conductor on your train ride. He has the trip completely planned so that you will end up at the perfect destination. You don’t want to get off the train to soon. That would be like taking a room at a Motel 6 when God as a 5 star luxury resort hotel reserved in your name, if you just hang on. Your job is say to God, “I want what you want for my life.” That is how you seek “God’s will.” That’s how you make the best decision and get the best results. That’s how you ensure that God is your travel guide and conductor. When you have what God wants for you, all the things that are supposed to happen will happen. God will bring to your life the circumstances and people you need to meet so that you can accomplish the things that He created you for. God wants the best for you. He wants you not to settle and to hold out for that “luxury hotel,” which is just another way of saying “God’s will for your life.” When your spirit starts to sink, keep saying to yourself, “I want what God wants. Everything else will fall in place. I’m here for a reason. Today, I’m going to concentrate on doing what I can do to bring love and light to the people that God has placed in my world.” That’s your itinerary for this stop. That is how you will accomplish your spiritual destiny this day. When it’s time to move on to the next stop, you will hear God’s whistle and He will lead you to a place that is exceedingly, abundantly beyond all expectation.
