2 Peter 1:2-8,19
His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence. For by these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent promises, in order that by them you might become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world by lust. Now for this very reason also, applying all diligence, in your faith supply moral excellence, and in your moral excellence, knowledge; and in your knowledge, self-control, and in your self-control, perseverance, and in your perseverance, godliness; and in your godliness, brotherly kindness, and in your brotherly kindness, love. For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they render you neither useless nor unfruitful. You do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star arises in your hearts.

God has the best strategies which you can always apply that will enable your life to become more “fruitful,” or in modern-talk, “happier, easier, and more fulfilling.” Think of it: when you follow God’s advice, you aren’t some little seedling, or quivering leaf, about to fall off the tree. No! Following God’s “strategies,” which are just another name for His “precious and magnificent” promises, will heal you from the inside, so that you actually become a “partaker of the divine nature.” That means, no matter what life holds for you, you can handle it because you know beyond a shadow of a doubt that God has something planned for you.
The first strategy is to always persevere. No matter how stormy your life may look, don’t pull the “car” that is your life off the road too early. God wants to steer you down the right road, the road where you will become what you were uniquely created to do. But if you put your car back in the garage when the road gets a little uncertain, you will have lost by default. You got off to soon. You didn’t stay the course to see what God had for you right beyond the bend.

The second strategy for a fruitful life is to never let go of hope. Hope is like “faith.” It is the fervent belief that things will get better because God will lead you to the place where you should be: the decision that you should make; the ending that was created just for you. As you wait for your signs and signals, fill up your thoughts with God’s hopeful promises like “Seek first His kingdom, then all these things shall be added unto you.” That verse is just is another way of saying that if you start off by asking God to work things out His way, everything else will fall into place. Just keep repeating that verse when your spirit begins to sag, and it will push away the clouds of darkness before they can overcome you.
The final strategy is “Love.” God is Love, and thus, when you soften your spirit and think of God, love, goodness, and kindness before you speak; it will make any situation better, because you will have brought God into the mix. Your nature and your actions will be reflecting His divine nature. That is the way to be fruitful. That is the way to “feed” yourself and the people that God has placed in your world.
