How To Feel Better When Things Aren’t Going As You Planned

2 Timothy 3:1,10,14,17
But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. But you follow my teaching, conduct, purpose, faith, patience, love, perseverance, You, however, continue in the things you have learned and become convinced of, knowing that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.

2 Timothy 4:2,4,5,17
Preach the word; be ready in season [and] out of season; endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry. But the Lord stood with me, and strengthened me, in order that through me the proclamation might be fully accomplished, and that all might hear; and I was delivered out of the lion's mouth.

God has a lot to say about “seasons.” He tells you not to become discouraged when things are “tricky” for you because if you don’t give up, in “due season,” you’ll reap a reward (Galatians 6:9).  That means sometimes things aren’t going to be like you wish they were or thought they would be. That’s when it’s your “out of season time.” But it is in the difficult times, when you’d really rather take your ball and bat and go home, and yet you still stay on the field and let you light shine, that you really score points with God.    It’s easy when it is easy. You can always be a sunny spirit when the sun really is shining in your life and your prayers are being answered the way that you want them to go, at your pace and in your time.  And that’s all great.  But what can you do so that you feel better during an out season time in your life?   First, you have to remember that “all things work together for good” (Romans 8:28). You are where you need to be at this particular time for some reason. You may not understand why something has happened to you, but if you have really put yourself in God’s hands, you are right where you need to be.  You can’t control the way the wind blows, or who comes into your world.  You can only control how you react to circumstances and people.  React with love to the best of your ability. Treat each person the way you want to be treated, even if all you want to do is pull the covers over your face.  Secondly remember, what God calls you for, He equips you for and will provide you with everything you need to be successful where you are, so that His will can be achieved.  And finally, remember that your out of season time isn't forever.  God promises that if you do your part, by fulfilling your ministry of using your gifts and spreading His Love and Light wherever you are, He will bless you and bring you back to your “in season time.”   Keep repeating that helpful verse where God says that He “has plans for you, not for calamity, but to give you a future and a hope” (Jeremiah 29:11). God hasn't forgotten you.  You are not where you are to be in despair or trouble.  Hold on to God’s promise that He will work all things out for your best possible happy ending because the Creator of the Universe has plans for youYour job, which He will give you the knowledge and the strength to handle, is to glorify Him, by letting your light shine as you wait.
