Philippians 4:6,7,9,11-13
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, shall guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. The things you have learned and received and heard and seen in me practice these things; and the God of peace shall be with you. Not that I speak from want; for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am. I know how to get along with humble means, and I also know how to live in prosperity; in any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of being filled and going hungry, both of having abundance and suffering need. I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.
On any given day, you may wish things were different. But Paul, from way back in Bible times, has some advice just for you. Today, be content in whatever circumstance you find yourself in. That doesn’t mean if you are unhappy or dissatisfied about something, God doesn’t want you to take action. He does. He wants you to give Him the problem, so that He can work out the details. But in the meantime, where you are this day is just where you are supposed to be in order to do something specific. It may be a piece of wisdom that only you can offer, or a word of encouragement that only you can give to soothe the heart of another. And if you concentrate on what you can put in to this day, it will ease your spirit and prepare you for the next part of your journey that God already has planned for you. That is the reason you are where you are right now. So the next time you start to feel anxious, repeat to yourself some of the most comforting verses in all of scripture: “Cast your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you” (1 Peter 5:7); Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, shall guard your hearts and your minds (Philippians 4:6,7); and “I can do all things through Him who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13). Let God’s words to you wash over your spirit to remind you that your better day is coming, but in the meantime, you are right where you are supposed to be.
