Psalm 37:7-9
Rest in the LORD and wait patiently for Him; do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who carries out wicked schemes. Cease from anger, and forsake wrath; Do not fret, it leads only to evildoing. For evildoers will be cut off, But those who wait for the LORD, they will inherit the land.
3 John 1:2,5,6,11

Beloved, I pray that in all respects you may prosper and be in good health, just as your soul prospers. Beloved, you are acting faithfully in whatever you accomplish for the brethren, and especially when they are strangers; and they bear witness to your love before the church; and you will do well to send them on their way in a manner worthy of God. Beloved, do not imitate what is evil, but what is good. The one who does good is of God; the one who does evil has not seen God.

God’s got a strategy or a “prescription” that will help you, no matter how your day is going. He wants you to act in a manner worthy of Him and to imitate what is good. You may wonder why God says to “imitate” what is good, rather than to just flat out be good. He says this because He knows that people look at you and judge you by how you act. You serve as an example to others of what a person who has God working in their life actually looks like. Therefore if someone’s faith is teetering because of the way you act, you want to at least be imitating what is good. Remember: you can’t control how you feel, but you can always control how you act. The times when you feel really angry, frustrated, or panicked are when you might have to do your best imitation of goodness and pray for your faith to kick in. Faith may be all that you have left on some days. But faith is everything. Faith is when you believe that at the end of the day, God’s got you covered and won’t let you fall. And here’s the neat part: as you imitate goodness and speak words of faith, even when you don’t feel it, sooner or later, your spirit will start to catch up to your words and you will feel better. But for those days when times are so tough, you don’t even feel like talking, God’s got a special “Plan B” prescription. He says to rest and wait patiently for Him. He knows what you need even before you ask, even before you yourself know what it is that will be right or best for you. So when your spirit starts to sink, just keep repeating: “I have faith. I have done everything I can. I am going to rest in the knowledge that God already has this taken care of.” Then you have to be patient. People are watching you. The alternative to resting patiently and imitating goodness as you wait for God to act, is to spin yourself into a pool of butter every time things go wrong; and that most certainly isn’t acting in a many worthy of God. Spinning and worrying is showing a lack of faith in God’s power to lift you out of despair and fix your issue. So rest, be patient, act in a manner worthy of God. That is your best strategy for yourself and to serve as an example to others of God’s healing, helpful power.
