Psalm 131:1-3
O Lord, my heart is not proud, nor my eyes haughty; Nor do I involve myself in great matters, Or in things too difficult for me. Surely I have composed and quieted my soul; hope in the LORD From this time forth and forever.

And now I ask you, lady, not as writing to you a new commandment, but the one which we have had from the beginning, that we love one another. And this is love that we walk according to His commandments. This is the commandment, just as you have heard from the beginning that you should walk in it. Watch yourselves that you might not lose what we have accomplished, but that you may receive a full reward.

"You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself." But Martha was distracted with all her preparations; and she came up to Him, and said, "Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to do all the serving alone? Then tell her to help me." But the Lord answered and said to her, "Martha, Martha, you are worried and bothered about so many things; but only a few things are necessary, really only one, for Mary has chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her."
Are you tired and overwhelmed because you have so many things going on? God wants you to keep your life simple. That way you have the time and the heart for the only thing that really matters, which is to honor God and walk in Love. When you find yourself snapping at others because of all the “things” you have piled on your plate; stop and ask yourself: “Am I trying so hard to please everyone that I have become constantly irritated and feeling taken advantage of?” God says to keep your life simple and focus on love. When you are overcommitted, it isn’t good for you or those around you because you will project the resentment you feel. But sometimes you have no control over the things that you must do, and so those things you should do. To do less or to do things with a whining spirit, wouldn’t be glorifying God. However, for those things that you can control, like how often you say “yes,” to optional things, remember: the simpler your life is, the easier it is to hear God’s voice, because His words don’t get lost in the noise and rhythm of your life. The simpler your life is, the more energy you will have and the better mood you will be in. Therefore, when people see your gentle, loving unfrazzled spirit, it will serve as a witness to others. When people look at you, they will wonder what makes you different because you experience the same weather, the same stock market. But you know the secret. You have chosen “the good part,” and that is a simple life, with God in charge. And that can never be taken away from you.
