How To Keep The Elevator Of Your Spirit On A Higher Floor

By Ann Schuler

Philippians 3:13,14
Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what [lies] behind and reaching forward to what [lies] ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus

Titus 1:5

Set in order what remains.

God has a great strategy for keeping the elevator of your spirit on a higher floor: “Keep your eyes on the Prize!”  But what is the “Prize,” and how can this little gem of a tidbit help you no matter what is happening in your life?  The Prize is God, plain and simple.  And the reason that you should keep your eyes on God is that He is the only one that knows exactly what you need in every aspect of your life.  And better yet, He can manipulate the entire universe to bring to pass the “thing” that would be best for you.  You might not know what’s best for you, but God always does.  That’s why you want to keep your eyes on the Prize.  But sometimes it’s tricky and you feel anxious about how something is going to work out, or sad because something or someone is no longer in your life.  And that is exactly where Satan wants you:  looking forward with fear or backward with longing. That’s when you refocus your thoughts; stick your hand up in the air and say, “No!  I am not having it this way.  You, Satan are not going to steal my joy and my peace.  I am keeping my eyes on the Prize.”  Then, ask Go to let whatever it is that is your issue, turn out the way that He wants it to.  That’s what the verse, “Seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you,” means.    When you “get” what God wants for you, you win!  Everything works out in the best possible way. Focus your energies on “setting in order what remains” (Titus 1:5), which means to live in your present where God has put you this day.  So to ease your heart and keep you focused on your real mission of spreading love, light and wisdom, just keep repeating God’s powerful six word strategy:  “Keep your eyes on the Prize.”
