Romans 12:2,21
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.  Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

Matthew 6:33,34
"But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not be anxious for tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”

One of God’s best strategies for keeping you calm and the lamp of your spirit lit is:  “Don’t be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind” (Romans 12:2). God knows that Satan, who is the King of darkness, is constantly hurling daggers of discouragement and uncertainty your way because he knows that when you are agitated and upset, you are more likely to say something you will regret, fold up your tent and go home.  And that’s what Satan really loves, because then you have taken yourself out of the "light shining" game! That’s why God wants you to “transform yourself by renewing your mind.” And so He lays out three strategies for doing just that!  First, set your mind on the Spirit (Romans 8:6). The “things” of the Spirit are love, faith, peace and hope…anything good…anything positive.  That’s why He says, “Whatever is good, lovely and true, if there is anything worthy of praise, let your mind dwell on these things” Philippians 4:8.   When you are thinking or “dwelling” on things of the Spirit, there is less room in your brain for all the negative “junk” to get in and bring you down. Secondly, stay in your present.  God knows that when you spend your time worrying about things in the past that you regret and He’s already forgiven you for or things in the future that may never come to pass, you cheat yourself out of enjoying where you.  You cloud your eyes to what God has for you this day.  That’s why Satan loves for you to be hanging out in the murky world of “what ifs,” because it takes you off your mission of spreading love, light and wisdom.  And the final strategy for transforming your mind is to start each day saying to God, “This day, make it Your day and help all the things go the way You would want them to go.”  And if you use those three strategies, with God on your side, you will “overcome evil with good” and conquer the darkest of foes, even if that “foe” is only your own self doubt.  Remember always that God loves you and is eternally with you.
