In Times Of Trouble, Let God Be Your Strength

Psalm 91:2-7,11,14,15,16

I will say to the LORD, "My refuge and my fortress, My God, in whom I trust!"  For it is He who delivers you from the snare of the trapper, His faithfulness is a shield and bulwark.  You will not be afraid of the terror by night, Or of the arrow that flies by day;  Of the pestilence that stalks in darkness, Or of the destruction that lays waste at noon. A thousand may fall at your side, And ten thousand at your right hand; But it shall not approach you. For He will give His angels charge concerning you, To guard you in all your ways. "Because he has loved Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him securely on high, because he has known My name."He will call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him, and honor him. "With a long life I will satisfy him, And let him behold My salvation."

Matthew 5:5,9
"Blessed are the gentle, for they shall inherit the earth. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.”

God is so great. He has a plan for everything so that you can be free from anxiety and fear.  When your spirit is bogged down with worry, you’ll never feel much like light-shining, because your focus will all be inward, on what is troubling you, instead of reaching out to others by spreading love, light, and the wisdom that God has given to you.  And here’s the big secret:  Let God be your strength. He loves you so much; He won’t let anything happen to you.  God wants to be your “shield and your bulwark.”  A bulwark is something that offers defense.  That means that God isn’t going to let anything get to you.  He says, “A thousand may fall at your side, And ten thousand at your right hand; But it shall not approach you. For I will give My angels charge concerning you, to guard you in all your ways”(Psalms 91:7-11).  How comforting is that? Memorize that verse and call it to mind next time you feel shaky. And here is the ironic thing:  God is so very strong and all powerful, but what He wants from you is to be a gentle peacemaker.  Yes, that’s right.  He wants you to turn away from evil, look to Him to provide your answers on every decision that you ever make and be a gentle peacemaker.  That’s how you keep yourself safe.  Don’t get entangled with negative, evil discussions that go nowhere.  You be the gentle peacemaker.  That’s the way you show you are a true child of God.  That’s how you inherit the earth, which in “Bible speak” means that your days here will be peaceful. Well, actually, a lot of non-peaceful things might come to you on any given day.  But you have God’s assurance that He will set you up “on high.”  He will be your strength.  Your strategy is to be the gentle peacemaker.  Between the two of you, you will slay all the dragons that come your way.
