JK Harris Closes, More Than 100 Jobs Lost

JK Harris & Company, the national tax resolutions firm headquartered in Goose Creek, told employees Thursday that the company was ceasing operations and the workers could pick up their belongings Friday at the St. James Avenue office.

Founded in 1997, the as it  over claims that it misled customers.

The Post and Courier's David Slade reports that more than 100 local JK Harris employees are out of a job.

About 30 employees were previously laid off in October, and they must pursue their unpaid wages as creditors in the bankruptcy case. The employees affected by Thursday's shut-down are in a similar position, owed about two weeks' pay.
