Legion Post Hosting State Baseball Tournament

Goose Creek will play in first round at 8 p.m. Saturday

Goose Creek’s American Legion Post 166 will be hosting the state’s American Legion Baseball Tournament beginning Saturday.

The national veterans organization has been providing young men the opportunity to play ball since 1925. “It gives the kids a purpose during the summer time,” said state tournament organizer Tony Dixon.

In the tournament, eight teams will be playing over five days at Charleston Southern University and Goose Creek High School. Dixon expects more than 500 people will be here this weekend for the first two rounds of play.
