Lions Club Donation Funds Trees at Municipal Pond

Walking trail getting some beautification assistance.

The Lions Club is doing its part to beautify Goose Creek. This summer, the city completed work on a walking trail around the pond at the Marguerite H. Brown Municipal Center.

With a monetary donation from the Lions Club to the city's tree trust fund, the city will be planting 11 caliper live oak trees along the trail. The city has also installed decorative lighting, benches and trash receptacles along the trail.

The City of Goose Creek Tree Trust Fund was created after Hurricane Hugo when a donor contributed funds to replant destroyed trees and for the general beautification of the city, according to a municipal release. Donations have resulted in the planting of hundreds of trees within the city.
