Local Fan Arrested In N.Y. Jets Stadium Taser Incident

Moncks Corner man charged with allegedly shooting three with stun gun.

A Moncks Corner has reportedly been arrested in New Jersey after allegedly using a Taser gun in a fight at the New York Jets game Sunday.

According to an Associated Press report, Leroy McKelvey, 59, was charged with three counts of aggravated assault and two weapons charges. Bail was set at $22,500.

An NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said in a statement that this incident could change security at stadiums:

"These procedures have been successful in keeping items that can cause serious injuries out of our stadiums. We will continue to be vigilant in protecting the safety of our fans."

A New York CBS affiliate has more reporting on the incident, including an interview with McKelvey's son and an alleged cell phone video taken directly after the incident (which includes some strong language).

Live 5 News talked with McKelvey's fiance, Gloria Dargin.

Dargin says one of the men intentionally bumped her to provoke Mckelvey.

"Larry was really protecting me," Dargin said. "When Larry punched him, they went down. I've got bruises on my leg, on the back of my thigh, I got kicked in the head.
