Local Man Dies in Virginia Wreck

One of two victims after driver loses control of tractor-trailer.

A Goose Creek man died Friday in a three-vehicle wreck in western Virginia after a tractor-trailer driver lost control of his rig.

Chris Edwin Darby, 50, died at the scene. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, 869 St. James Ave.

Darby was one of two victims who died at the scene, according to The Roanoke Times.

State police reported Friday that the driver of a tractor-trailer going southbound on I-81 lost control of his vehicle, crossed over the median and entered the northbound lanes of I-81. The truck struck a 2007 Ford F-150 and a 2006 Dodge minivan, police said.

The driver of the rig was charged with reckless driving and failure to maintain control. Read more at The Roanoke Times.
