Lowcountry 9-11 Memorial Service Friday
Area first responders and military to commemorate Sept. 11 at PAC.
The Lowcountry will remember the tragic events of Sept. 11, 2001, in a special memorial organized by first responders and military personnel.
The event will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the North Charleston Performing Arts Center. The event is free and there will be no charge for parking.
The program will include first responders who were at the Wold Trade Center and the Pentagon on Sept. 11, as well as music by the Charleston Police Pipes and Drums and the Academic Magnet High School Vocal Ensemble.

"We hope to come together as a local community of first responders to commemorate this anniversary," said North Charleston Fire Chief Greg Bulanow in a statement. "It provides an opportunity to appropriately honor and reflect on the enormous sacrifices that were made that day in theservice of duty."
The event will also provide an opportunity to remember those who continue do to this work every day, said Charleston County EMS Director Don Lundy. "They all are the real heroes walking among us."

Participating agencies include Joint Base Charleston, the South Carolina Highway Patrol, and local law enforcement and first responders from Goose Creek, Mount Pleasant, Summerville, West Ashley and more.
