Lowcountry Has Hottest Summer On Record

It was the warmest summer in at least 73 years.

According to the National Weather Service in Charleston, this summer was the hottest on record for the Lowcountry.

For the months of June, July and August, it was hotter at the Chalreston Airport than any other year since records began in 1938.

It's probably not news to most of you following the string of heat advisories in the region after the past few weeks.

We don't have to go far to find the previous record holder. The 2010 summer months broke records with an average temperature of 83.1 degrees. This year's new record is set at 83.4 degrees.
