March Math Madness Hits Marrington!
Meet Mr. 20, Miss 200, and Mr. 10, otherwise known as Jourdyn Bates, Bailey Barrett, and Sam Seevers. To assist students with math fact fluency, during the month of March, Marringon Elementary School staff will be implementing the following activities:
Math Fact Mondays – mailing labels will be provided to classrooms to use each Monday in March (March 10, 17, 24, 31). Each student will write a different math fact on their mailing label to wear for the school day. During the school day, students will use their answer as their name. The object of this activity to saturate MNE school building each Monday with math facts for students to visually see and use throughout the day. Teachers and staff are encouraged to participate as well. Marrington kindergarten students Jourdyn Bates, Bailey Barrett, and Sam Seevers were called Mr. 20, Miss 200, and Mr. 10, whenever someone wanted to address them respectively.

Fluency Fridays – Teachers will make the most of “down time” such as during transitions or waiting in line for restroom, recess, or lunch to review math facts with students. There are several flash card apps available on iPads that can be used for this as well as traditional flash cards.

Math Family Game Night – Thursday, March 27th 6:00 to 7:00pm. MNE will sponsor a family night of math games that parents and children play at home. During Family Game night, participants will play math games that have been created by teachers (premade or web based) and then make a game to take home. The school cafeteria and both computer labs for this event. The goal of this activity outcome of this event to provide families with fluency resources they can use at home. Each grade level will prepare and participate in this family event.
