Marrington Elementary 5th graders host WWII Veteran to Kick off The Month of the Military Child
Marrington Elementary 5th grade students have been studying World War II. As a grand finale for this unit, MNE 5th grade teacher Katie Lamb, invited Historian Carole Poole to share stories about her family member’s experiences during the war. But most electrifying of all was the personal touch of WWII Veteran, Floyd Hennessee. Mr. Hennessee regaled the students with his war time experiences. Students were in awe of the wisdom and history that their new friends shared. It was an experience they will never forget. This presentation was especially poignant because the vast majority of the students who attend Marrington are children from Military Families! Additionally, this event kicked off Marrrington’s recognition of April as The Month of the Military Child.
