Marrington Elementary School Improvement Council, led by school Principal Barb Webber, had a special treat for their final meeting for the school year. The committee members learned that Marrington Elementary School has been recognized by the SC Education Oversight committee for outstanding student performance results at the Gold and Silver levels on the state assessment. For the 2013-2014 school year, MNE received The Gold Award for General Performance, and the Silver Award for Closing the Achievement Gap. The Palmetto Gold and Silver Awards program, founded in 1998 recognizes schools for general performance and closing the gap achievement.
Throughout the school year, the School Improvement Council worked with the school principal in planning, reviewing, and evaluating school programs. Input from members was sought in developing strategic and school renewal plans. The most up-to-date information and data on school programs was shared each month.
The collaborative effort of the administration, faculty, staff, PTO School Improvement Council, parents, and the community assures that Marrington will continue to challenge and empower their students to be successful in a highly competitive world as they strive each day to “boost learners and build leaders!
