Marrington Elementary has a long history of having a thriving Volunteer Program. The purpose of the Volunteer Program is to support Academic achievement and Berkeley County School District goals to improve graduation rates and support dropout prevention; to enrich the quality of instruction with relevant topics or presentations; to increase student motivation and improve reading scores; to strengthen the partnership between the schools and their community businesses and civic leaders; to strengthen school/parent/community relations; and to promote parent involvement by actively seeking collaboration.
Some of the many functions parent volunteers assist with are reading with or listening to a child read; shelving and weeding books in the Media Center; fundraisers: Providing a Birthday Table for students in cafeteria; Weekly Wednesday Folders; bulletin board displays; posting/displaying student work in the halls or pod areas; copying papers, duty free lunch; book fairs, Picture Pay; Staff Appreciation; and Field day and Field Trips.
Marrington Elementary faculty and staff are grateful for the unwavering help and support from their dedicated volunteers.
