Moped Driver Dies Following Accident

Coroner: Death will be ruled accidental.

The Berkeley County coroner has identified the man who died in an accident on Old Highway 52 late Tuesday.

John Brown, 61, was pronounced dead at a local emergency room, said Coroner Bill Salisbury. The death will be ruled accidental with the cause listed as blunt force body trauma. 

According to Salisbury, Brown was traveling north on the highway at 10:10 p.m. when he was struck from behind by another vehicle heading in the same direction. Brown was reportedly not wearing a helmet.

The Coroner's Office and the S.C. Highway Patrol are investigating the wreck.
