Municipal Center Pond Closed to Reels … For Now
Fishing hole could be open by this spring.

An avid fly fisherman for the last three years, Tom Shepard told Goose Creek City Council this week that he’s looking for a new spot to cast his reel. “There’s a great pond right here behind the municipal center,” he said.
The city has posted no trespassing signs by the pond, but hiker/biker trails around the pond are expected to be finished by the spring. Administrator Dennis Harmon says it should be ready then for public use.
Beyond access, the pond is also going to need something else. “It’s pretty well drained of its fish right now,” Mayor Mike Heitzler said.

The city may be able to work with the state Department of Natural Resources to stock the pond. “We could get some Bubbas to put in there,” the mayor said.
