Empty Lots Seeing Action in Downtown Goose Creek

Seewee Drive will soon be bustling with Kingdom Hall and Fender Mender construction.

Construction on two new projects will be turning dusty, overgrown Seewee Drive into a new destination in Goose Creek's downtown district.

The city is in the midst of the final phase of streetscape improvements that includes sidewalks and buried power lines.

Seewee sits at the end of sidewalk improvements in the redevelopment of nearby Central Avenue. Soon, the empty strip will have somewhere for folks to walk to.

And Planning Director Daniel Ben-Yisrael noted that a neighboring lot on Seewee is expected to be developed as a Fender Mender.

Plans have not been submitted yet for the auto repair spot. Like other property in the downtown district, it will have to adhere to strict development standards.

"It will be one of the best-looking Fender Menders in the Lowcountry," Ben-Yisrael told the board.
