New Details Released in Attempted Murder Case

Suspect in Goose Creek incident told police he was innocent.

Goose Creek Police has released new details in the .

Seventeen-year-old Joseph Alec Kosmela is at the Berkeley County Detention Center, facing a $200,000 bond for two charges of attempted murder and one charge of possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

According to the police, officers responded at 11:49 a.m. Friday to shots fired near the convenience store and the local VFW building.

The victims, Brian Adam Bair, 25, and Amanda Marie DeFlorentas, 26, both of Goose Creek, were traveling down Stephanie Drive when Bair said he saw Kosmela standing on the side of the road holding a large black pistol.

Bair told police that Kosmela fired two shots at the car and then fled into the woods. Bair parked the car at the Circle K. Officers found two bullet holes on the driver's side, one in the rear door and another in the taillight.

Kosmela was picked up nearby walking on Beverly Drive without the weapon. He told police that he was just at Circle K to get something to drink and was heading home. He denied any knowledge of the incident.
