Obituary: Anita Markut, Goose Creek Police Volunteer

Anita Eastman Markut, 86, of Ladson, widow of Fred C. Markut Sr., entered into eternal rest on Wednesday Sept. 26, 2012. Anita was born in Braeburn, Penn., and attended Jersey Medical Center and became a Registered Nurse.
Mrs. Markut was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and active volunteer. She worked for the Goose City Police Department and volunteered for RSVP. Her awards include City of Goose Creek Volunteer of the year for five years; Police Department Volunteer of the year and Citizen of the Year by the Fraternal Order of Police.
She is survived by her daughter Eleanora C. Guarino and husband David of Ladson; one sister, Blanch Brydon of Las Cruces, N.M.; grandchildren, David A. Guarino, Jr. of Goose Creek; Anthony P. Guarino of Ladson; Kimberly M. McLaughin of North Charleston and four great-granddaughters.
She was predeceased by her husband, Fred C. Markut Sr. and son, Fred C. Markut Jr.Â
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012, at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, 869 St. James Ave., Goose Creek.
