
James Gordon "Jim" Harrod, 82, husband of Drusilla West Harrod, of Goose Creek, died Oct. 6, 2012, surrounded by his family.Â
Born August 19, 1930, in Highland Home, Ala., he was the son of the late James G. Harrod Sr. and Willie Dell Morris Harrod. He attended University of Alabama and had a successful military career, having served his country proudly in the United States Air Force. He retired as Lt. Colonel after 20 years of service in 1972. Jim also retired from the Naval Shipyard after 20 years.Â
He will be deeply missed by his wife of 33 years; his daughters, Terri Marino, Kim Archer and Jami Burt; his son, James Gordon Harrod; his step-son, Mark Cooper; and his five grandchildren.Â

The family will receive friends Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012, from 4-6 p.m. at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, Goose Creek Chapel, 869 St. James Ave. Funeral service to follow and begin at 6 p.m. in the chapel. Interment will be Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012 in Lanaster Memorial Park Cemetery, Lancaster.Â
