Obituary: Mary Daning, Active Senior and Goose Creek Volunteer

Mary Francis Daning, 97, of Goose Creek, passed away October 23, 2012, after visiting with her loving family and friends. 

Born in Mahanoy City, Penn., she was the daughter of the late Harry William and Leona Seader Martin. She moved to Goose Creek in 1999 with her late husband of 63 years, Sofronio Daning.

She was a very independent woman raising three sons while her husband served as a Merchant Marine. She was the treasurer and committee woman of the Republican Party in Villas, N.J., for many years.

Since moving to Goose Creek Mary was active in the Lower Berkeley County Senior Center. She crocheted lap quilts for Hospice and Senior Services. Mary was a devout Catholic. She will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

She is survived by her three sons, Daniel (Sunmi) of Las Vegas, Thomas of San Diego, Calif., and Joseph (Brenda) of Goose Creek. Grandchildren; Michael Daning (Marina), Timothy Daning (Arlette), Thomas Jr. (Robin), Maria Ciro (Vincent). Great grandchildren, Madison and Dylan Daning; Carolyn, Jonathan and Emmanuel Daning; Emily Grace and Matthew Daning; Dominic and Genero Ciro. Her cousin, Anna Grabowski and niece, Nancy Protack (John) of Millsboro, Delaware.

Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church on Saturday, October 27 with the Mass of Christian Burial following at 2 p.m. The family will receive friends and guests in the Church Community Center immediately following the service. Graveside services will be private at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Immaculate Conception Building Fund, 510 Saint James Avenue, Goose Creek, SC 29445.
