Obituary: Philip Moore, Defense Department Contractor

Mr. Philip Douglas Moore, age 48, of Goose Creek, passed away Monday, October 29, 2012, at Trident Medical Center in Charleston. 

He was born July 23, 1964 in Easley, the son of Frank Moore and Linda Sanders Moore.

Philip was an Eagle Scout. He graduated from Greenville High School where he played the trumpet in the band. Philip attended Greenville Technical College. He served in the U.S. Navy for 13 years and during this time, he earned his Bachelor's degree. He was a Submariner and served on the USS Batfish as a radioman.

Philip worked as a DOD Contractor in Kunduz, Afghanistan, where he proudly supported fellow military personnel. 

He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Moore; three children, Turner, 9, Ella, 4, and Woody, 2; parents, Frank and Linda Moore; and two half-brothers, Tommy and Randy Moore.

A celebration of life will be held at 3 p.m., Friday, Nov. 2, 2012 at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, 869 St. James Ave., Goose Creek, SC. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at 2 p.m.
