Officers Seize Nearly $100,000 in Marijuana and Ecstasy

Motorist arrested after Interstate 26 traffic stop.

The Berkeley County Sheriff's Office arrested a North Charleston man on Thursday after allegedly finding nearly $100,000 worth of marijuana and Ecstasy in his car.

Montez Trivell King, of Clement Avenue, is charged with trafficking marijuana and trafficking MDMA. 

According to BCSO spokesman Dan Moon, deputies stopped King on Interstate 26 near mile marker 203 for an improper turn.

The officer noted that King appeared nervous. When the driver refused to allow the officer to search the car, a drug-sniffing dog was brought in.

After the dog suggested narcotics were in the car, a search revealed approximately 20 lbs. of marijuana and 51 gross grams of MDMA, or Ecstasy. Moon estimated the street value for the drugs at $97,230.
