One Dead in Cross Wreck, Two Injured

Highway Patrol says incident at intersection of S.C. 311 and County Line Road.

A Cross woman died Tuesday afternoon in a wreck at the intersection of S.C. 311 and County Line Road. 

Pennie Mae Ravenell, 47, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Berkeley County Coroner Bill Salisbury.

Ravenell was driving toward the intersection on County Line Road in her 1999 Mitsubishi Gallant when she reportedly disregarded a stop sign, according to Cpl. Bob Beres with the S.C. Highway Patrol. Her car collided with a Chevy truck driven by Brent Craig of Lexington.

Craig was tranported to Trident Medical Center. Ravenell's son, whose name has not been released, was airlifted to Medical University of South Carolina.

Ravenell's death was due to blunt force body trauma, according to Salisbury.

The wreck is under investigation be the Berkeley County Coroner's Office and the Highway Patrol.
