Pedestrian Killed Early Saturday on Red Bank Road

Highway Patrol says driver uninjured, won't face charges.

A pedestrian was killed early Saturday morning while in the roadway on Red Bank Road.

According to the S.C. Highway Patrol, a 2004 Dodge Ram was heading north on the road at 12:40 a.m. when the vehicle struck an unidentified individual.

The pedestrian's name will be released by the Berkeley County Coroner's office, pending notification of the family.

The driver was not injured and will not face charges. According to the Highway Patrol, the pedestrian was allegedly illegally in the road.

The incident is under investigation by the Highway Patrol and the Coroner's Office.

It is the second pedestrian fatality on Red Bank Road in the past week. A Goose Creek man died early Sunday after he was struck by a car on Dec. 8.
