Phillips Picks Bushy Park For New Facility

On Wednesday, Aug. 15, officials from Berkeley County and Cooper River Partners announced that Phillips Industrial Services (Phillips), a 51-year-old Goose Creek company which currently provides 80 jobs to the local community, has chosen to make Bushy Park its permanent home.

Phillips provides a multitude of high-quality industrial services including plant maintenance painting, 40,000 psi hydroblasting, vacuum truck services, specialized tank lining, secondary containment systems (including concrete repair and coatings) and CO2 dry ice blast cleaning. Additionally, Phillips is the only company in South Carolina which earned all three Society of Protective Coatings (SSPC) certifications for complex structures, lead abatement, hazardous coatings removal and shop coating services.

Phillips works both locally and with companies around the globe. They have been a preferred contractor for the U.S. Navy, providing ongoing services at Guantanamo Bay.  Companies as far away as East Africa and Iceland have sought Phillips services. Locally, they’ve worked with DAK Americas, the DuPont Kevlar plant, LANXESS and Sun Chemical. Safety is a top priority for Phillips, earning the company multiple accolades and awards from both DuPont and the Association of General Contractors of America.

Les Phillips feels that being an integral part of the community is an important aspect of being a successful businessman.  He has served as Chairman of the 'Make a Wish' foundation, sits on the Board of Directors for Crisis Ministries, and has personally built two homes for underprivileged families in Haiti.
