Races Shaping Up for Berkeley School District

Less than a week left for candidate filing, but we already have two competitive races.

There will be at least two competitive races for the Berkeley County School Board in November.

Candidate filing will continue until noon Aug. 15, but we checked in Wednesday afternoon to see who was already in the running.

Incumbents Phillip Obie II in District 3 and Kathy Schwalbe in District 5 have each filed for a shot at another term.

District 1 board member Kent Murray is running for re-election, and will face Kevin Cobb.

In District 7, incumbent Wilhelmina Moore is facing a challenge from Marty Housand.

No candidate has filed yet for the District 9 seat currently held by Donna Marino.
