Register Now to Vote for March Election
If you want to vote in March, be sure to register by Feb. 16.
First Congressional District voters head to the polls March 19 to nominate their party's candidate to go toe-to-toe for the empty seat.
The winner of the May 7 special election will replace Tim Scott, who was appointed to the U.S. Senate.
If you want to vote in the GOP or Democrat primary, be sure to register by Feb. 16. Here are some key dates to keep in mind. They come courtesy League of Women Voters Charleston Area.

February 16 - Last day to register to vote in Primary
March 19 - Primary
April 2 - Primary Runoff (if necessary)
April 6 - Last day to register to vote in Special Election
May 7 - Special Election
With the October 2012 institution of online voting registration in South Carolina, all persons who will be 18 on or before the May 7 First Congressional District Special Election and who hold a valid driver's license or DMV-issued ID card, can register online.

This will be the state's first election where voters will be asked to show one of the following Photo IDs at your polling place:
- S.C. Driver's License
- ID Card issued by S.C. Department of Motor Vehicles
- S.C. Voter Registration Card with Photo
- Federal Military ID
- U.S. Passport
