Rep. Scott to Tour Alcoa Plant Friday

Congressman also holding town hall for employees.

U.S. Rep. Tim Scott (R-Charleston) will be touring Alcoa's Mt. Holly plant Friday and host a town hall for employees.

Gov. Nikki Haley toured the plant in November, .

The aluminium production plant rang the alarm in August that . In September, , noting the company provides $110 million in state and local revenue and has a $900 million economic impact in the state.

The contract with Santee Cooper runs through December 2015. Alcoa has until June to give notice that it won't renew the contract.

Haley's visit was important to show political support for the plant, but it also provided a chance to highlight how invested the company is in its employees.

"It gave me an opportunity right out of high school," said Randy Davis, who noted that he built his own home at 20 and is now getting his college degree while on the job at Alcoa.
