Santorum at Berkeley GOP Breakfast Saturday

Candidate will be guest speaker at monthly party meeting.

Presidential hopeful Rick Santorum will be the guest speaker at the Berkeley County Republican Party's monthly breakfast meeting Saturday, Sept. 3.

A former senator from Pennsylvania lost his re-election in 2006, Santorum has been in the GOP Primary field longer than most of the other candidates.

But he has had a difficult time finding traction in early polls. It was reportedly because of those numbers that Santorum was not invited to participate in Sen. Jim DeMint's Labor Day candidate forum.

County party Chairman Tim Callanan says Santorum will likely receive a warm reception from Berkeley Republicans.

"He'll get a lot of questions about fiscal policies and spending issues," Callanan said. "In addition to that, Sen. Santorum is more of a complete package because he can also give you strong opinions on foreign policy and social issues, as well."
