Serena Williams Headlines Family Circle Action Tuesday
Competition heats up as players take a step closer to the cup.

As Charleston gets back in order after the Cooper River Bridge Run and Summerville comes down from its Flowertown high, seeded women's tennis action begins at the Family Circle Cup on Daniel Island on Tuesday.
At 7 p.m., Serena Williams will take to the court, facing off against Elena Vesnina in the evening session. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster. There's plenty of other action throughout the day as players try to reach the finals this weekend.
With the exit of top-seeded Agnieszka Radwanska due to a back injury, the Williams sisters will not be able to meet in the final round, according to The Washington Post.

Wozniak Upsets McHale, Vesnina Advances
Release, Family Circle Cup:
Main draw play at the Family Circle Cup kicked off on Monday and it didn't take long for the first surprises of the week, with three seeds falling.
Chanelle Scheepers and Jarmila Gajdosova were the first seeds to fall, both to qualifiers and both in tough three-setters - the No.15-seeded Scheepers lost to Argentine up-and-comer Paula Ormaechea, 61 16 64, while No.16-seeded Gajdosova was outlasted by crafty Swiss player Stefanie Voegele, 64 26 64.
The last upset came later on, as No.11 seed Christina McHale lost a two-hour, 48-minute marathon against Aleksandra Wozniak, 75 57 64, fighting from 3-1 down to win the second set but ultimately falling in the decider.
"Aleksandra played really good tennis. She served really well - I had a hard time trying to break her," McHale said. "It was unfortunate to lose today but hopefully I'll be on the other end of a match like this next time."
The other two seeds in action moved on, as No.10 seed Anabel Medina Garrigues cruised through the third set of a 64 46 60 win over American Melanie Oudin, and No.14 seed Polona Hercog beat Japanese veteran Kimiko Date-Krumm, 64 63.
Other winners included Elena Vesnina, a finalist here last year. Vesnina needed eight set points to close out the first set then rallied from 5-3 down in the second set to beat Stephanie Dubois, 76(10) 75.
Williams Sisters, Stosur & Zvonareva On Stadium Court
Release, Family Circle Cup:
The WTA stars will be out in full force on Tuesday, with Grand Slam champions (and Family Circle Cup champions) Venus Williams, Serena Williams and Samantha Stosur all playing their first matches of the week on Stadium court.
Venus Williams is the first of the three to play, facing fellow veteran Iveta Benesova in a first round match. Williams, a seven-time Grand Slam champion and the 2004 champion here, came back to the tour in Miami two weeks ago after not playing since the US Open due to illness. Williams is 3-0 against Benesova.
Stosur is next, taking on the winner of Monday's match between Sloane Stephens and Jamie Hampton. Stosur won the Family Circle Cup in 2010 then her first Grand Slam title at the US Open in 2011 - she is this week's No.2 seed and the highest seed left in the draw, since Agnieszka Radwanska is now out.
The feature night match pits Serena Williams against last year's finalist here, Elena Vesnina. Williams is a 13-time Grand Slam champion and the 2008 winner here, and is now back in the Top 10 for the first time since last spring. She beat Vesnina in straight sets in their only previous meeting back in 2008.
Vera Zvonareva, a multiple finalist here and this year's No.4 seed, opens her campaign against Kateryna Bondarenko. Other players in action include 2006 Family Circle Cup champion Nadia Petrova and talented young American Vania King, who plays Yanina Wickmayer in the first match of the day on Stadium.
