Sexual Assault Suspect Captured in Georgia
Initial police report recounts violent scene.

Deputies in Georgia have captured a man wanted for burglary and accused of the sexual assault and beating of a Crystal Street woman, according to Goose Creek Police.
The Sheriff's Office in Richland County, Ga., found Steven Morgan, 37, around 11:30 p.m. Sunday night at a home, according to Goose Creek Police spokesman Capt. John Grainger. Morgan is being detained in Richland County pending extradition.
Morgan is while holding a knife, sexually assaulting and beating her, before fleeing the scene. The victim is recovering at MUSC with non-life-threatening injures, Grainger said.

Morgan is currently charged with first degree burglary. Goose Creek Police expect additional charges of kidnapping, first degree criminal sexual conduct, attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
Police also released more details on the incident on Monday. Officers said they arrived at the home around 8:45 a.m. Sunday. Police said they found the victim sitting in the foyer of the home and noted that a rear sliding glass door was shattered.

Investigators believe Morgan tied the victim up with clothes hangers and strips of a towel. The victim told police that Morgan beat her with his fists and sexually assaulted her at knife point. She said he left near sunrise. She was able to get free and crawl down the stairs.
While processing the scene, police also found a hole in the wall near the base of the stairwell and blood splatters and stains on the floor and on the stairs.
