Shooting Fatality, Car Accident Closes I-26 to Monday Morning Commuters

Bumper to bumper on some local roadways this a.m. as strange accident shuts down interstate

It was a complicated commute this morning for Goose Creek residents and those trying to get to Joint Base Charleston as local roads were inundated with drivers.

Before sunrise this morning, a car accident shut down traffic just east of the Ashley Phosphate exit. The case was further complicated once officers determined a victim in the accident had died from a gunshot wound.

Investigators shutdown east bound lanes
until long after commuters should have already been clocked in and at their desks. That sent many frustrated motorists onto College Park Road and University Boulevard.

Dumping those drivers on our local roads had the expected impact of tying up traffic for the regular commuters trying to get down Rivers Avenue or up to Red Bank Road.
