Simulated School Shooting at Howe Hall Thursday
Safety drill to provide emergency training for district and first responders.

Emergency vehicles will be arriving at Howe Hall AIMS on Thursday morning, but it won't be an emergency.
A training exercise begins at 8 a.m., with first responders simulating a school shooter incident. The two-hour event will include Berkeley County Emergency Preparedness, Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office and the Goose Creek Police Department.

Parents have been notified of the drill so that they aren't alarmed.
In the simulation, participants will be enacting a response to an armed gunman entering the building. The shooter will have "shot" three faculty members and two children before barricading himself in a classroom.

The lessons learned Thursday should assist in responsiveness and cooperation between agencies, particularly in a school setting.
