Sonic With Indoor Dining Coming to College Park
New restaurant expected to open in early 2012.
Bye bye, Burger King.
After sitting empty near the entrance to Crowfield Plantation on College Park Road, the abandoned restaurant is getting a radical makeover with a new owner.
Jupiter Holdings is planning to open a Sonic at the location in 2012, said company representative Fred Whittle.

The franchise owners are putting the finishing touches on permits before construction begins. The restaurant should be open by early March.
"The City of Goose Creek and the Crowfield Plantation Homeowners' Association have been very cooperative, helpful and encouraging," said Whittle.

The owners have another Sonic on University Boulevard, but this new location is going to offer a unique experience in the Charleston area. Designs will preserve the interior of the old Burger King, providing an indoor dining experience, as well as the standard Sonic drive-in.
"For the first time in this area, you'll be able to get your Sonic and dine inside," Whittle said.
The existing playground will also be replaced with patio dining and an indoor/outdoor fireplace. Â
