Wind and Flood Advisories Through Monday

Weather Service: Rough weather on the way.

Update 2: Coastal Flood Advisory issued Monday afternoon. .

Update 1: At 4:15 p.m., the National Weather Service issued a wind advisory for Charleston and tidal Berkeley County until 5 p.m. Monday. According to the notice, "Windy conditions will create difficult driving conditions, especially on bridges and other exposed roadways." The NWS warns that winds may be even stronger on taller bridges, including the Ravenel Bridge, the Don Holt Bridge and the the Isle of Palms Connector.

Charleston County and tidal Berkeley County are also under a flash flood watch through Monday evening. Rainfall of up to 5 inches is possible with locally higher amounts, according to a statement from the National Weather Service. "This amount of rain could cause flash flooding if it occurs in a short period of time," the NWS warns. "The risk for flash flooding will also be especially high at the coast if heavy rains fall during high tide."

Original Report: Get ready for some heavy rain to start off your week. The National Weather Service is warning of possible flooding and dangerous winds Monday or Tuesday as a storm runs up the coast.

First, the National Hurricane Center has been watching a system in the Bahamas that may become a tropical storm.

"Regardless of development, strong gusty winds and locally heavy rainfall are expected over the Northern Bahamas and portions of the Florida peninsula today," the NHC noted in a Sunday morning statement. "These conditions are expected to spread northward into eastern portions of Georgia and South Carolina during the next day or two."

The National Weather Service in Charleston says heavy rainfall is possible Monday and Tuesday, and warns that a flood watch may be required for parts of the region. It also warns of isolated severe thunderstorms from Monday into Tuesday, including possibly damaging winds and isolated tornadoes.

Because of the activity, there is a high surf advisory along the coast and a lake wind advisory near Lake Moultrie.
