Suicide Suspected After Train Hits Person in Hanahan

An unidentified person appears to have committed suicide Wednesday night by standing in front of a fast-moving train travelling through Hanahan.

Deputy Coroner Darnell Hartwell said he was called to the scene near Mabeline Road at roughly 9:30 p.m. Hanahan Police said the death is being investigated as a suicide.

The person has been identified, according to Hartwell. The name and any other information about the victim is currently being withheld because the circumstances suggest suicide.

This suspected suicide is the fourth in the last six weeks reported on the train tracks running through Goose Creek and Hanahan.

In the most recent case, a at the Alcoa plant in Goose Creek. 

A 53-year-old Goose Creek woman was  on May 17. An unidentified man was allegedly  when he was struck and died of an apparent suicide June 10.
