T.J. Burrell Signs With Clemson

Linebacker led Goose Creek to 2011 state championship.

Goose Creek's T.J. Burrell left Clemson's football stadium in December with a state championship win. He'll be returning in the fall to begin a career with the Tigers.

The linebacker signed with Clemson on Wednesday morning as part of national signing day. "It's the same atmosphere that I feel here," Burrell said. "It's a great fit for me."

Burrell actually , before Goose Creek's championship season. “T.J.’s a very strong guy, and he also runs very well,” said Goose Creek Coach Chuck Reedy. “Clemson is looking to be a little tougher and physical with its defense.”

Clemson notes that Burrell is ranked 57th in the nation at outside linebacker and the No. 20 player overall in South Carolina by ESPN.com. He recorded 105 tackles, 12 tackles for loss and three sacks as a senior.
