Thornburg Starting For Brewers Tuesday

Former Charleston Southern Buccaneer Tyler Thornburg is expected to make his major league debut Tuesday night at Toronto's Miller Park.

Shaun Marcum, Tuesday's scheduled starter, was scratched because of elbow tightness, and the team didn't want to lean on a bullpen that threw 6 2/3 innings Sunday in a 15-inning loss at Minnesota. Thornburg had been slated to pitch in the Southern League All-Star Game on Tuesday, the Brewers' website reported.

“We’ll have somebody here, we’ll make a (roster) move (Tuesday) to be able to do that,” Brewers manager Ron Roenicke told reporters before Monday's game.

The Brewers drafted Thornburg in 2010. He's got an 8-1 record this season.
